Rinse brown rice grains with cold water
Place 1 cup of rice in a rice cooker bowl
Add 2 cups of water
Start cooking in the rice cooker. When rice finishes cooking, rice cooker will switch to ‘keep warm’ (after approx 25 minutes). Allow rice to stand for 5 minutes with the lid closed before serving.

Add 2 cups of water and bring to the boil
Reduce heat and simmer covered for 25 minutes
Remove from heat and stand covered for 5 minutes
Place rice in a glass or wooden bowl and gradually mix in ½ cup of rice vinegar, 2 tbsp of caster sugar and ½ teaspoon of salt using a wooden spoon.

Add 8 cups of cold water. Bring to the boil and stir occasionally
Reduce heat and simmer covered for 25 minutes
Remove from heat, drain well and serve
1 cup of uncooked rice = approximately 2 ½ cups of cooked rice. For softer rice add more water.
