Medium Grain White Rice

SunRice White Medium Grain Rice is a soft, slightly clingy looking, medium grain rice although not as soft and clingy as short grain varieties. It is one of the most popular all-purpose rices. It can be used as a substitute for Arborio Rice (although not as creamy) or for Japanese Style Sushi Rice (although not as sticky). Suitable for creamed rice, rice puddings, rice soups and casseroles.

Cooking Method
Absorption

Absorption

  1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) of cold water. Bring to boil.  Stir occasionally.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 12-14 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stand, covered for 5-10 minutes. Serve.
Gentle Boil

Gentle Boil

   1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 6-8 cups of cold water. Bring to boil.  Stir occasionally.
   2. Lower heat and boil gently, uncovered for  12-14 minutes.
   3. Remove from heat. Drain well and serve.
Microwave

Microwave

Use the same water to rice ratio as the absorption method. However, as there are great variances between microwaves, refer to your microwave manual for instructions.

Tip: For optimal consistency in results, we recommend the use of an electric rice cooker.
