Long Grain Brown Rice
SunRice Long Grain Brown Rice gets its characteristic nutty flavour and chewy texture because the nutritious "bran layer" is not removed at milling.

This is also why it takes longer to cook than white rice. Its firm texture, flavour and separating grains are suitable for salads or an interesting variation in meals.

Cooking Method
Absorbtion

Absorption

  1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) of cold water. Bring to boil. Stir occasionally.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 25-30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stand, covered for 5-10 minutes. Serve.
Gentle Boil

Gentle Boil

  1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 6-8 cups of cold water. Bring to boil. Stir occasionally.
  2. Lower heat and boil gently, uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Drain well and serve.
Microwave

Microwave

Use the same water to rice ratio as the absorption method. However, as there are great variances between microwaves, refer to your microwave manual for instructions.

Tip: For optimal consistency in results, we recommend the use of an electric rice cooker.
