Doongara rice is a uniquely Australian developed and grown grain of rice, first commercially harvested in 1989.

Lower Glycemic Index - SunRice Doongara Clever Rice has a lower glycaemic index (GI) than regular rice. This means it is digested more slowly by the body, helping you to stay fuller for longer and providing a sustained energy release for endurance.

Hard to Overcook - SunRice Doongara CleverRice is hard to overcook, as it is a more forgiving grain, allowing you to overcook the rice for up to 5 minutes beyond the ideal cook time of 12 minutes, resulting in fluffy rice every time.

SunRice Doongara Clever rice is an all-purpose Australian white, long grain rice that is high in complex carbohydrates (starch), cholesterol free, gluten free, low in salt, fat and sugar.

Cooking Method
Absorption

Absorption

  1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) of cold water. Bring to boil. Stir occasionally.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 12-14 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stand, covered for 5-10 minutes. Serve.
Gentle Boil

Gentle Boil

  1. Place 1 cup (200 g) of rice in a saucepan. Add 6-8 cups of cold water. Bring to boil. Stir occasionally.
  2. Lower heat and boil gently, uncovered for  12-14 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Drain well and serve.
Microwave

Microwave

Use the same water to rice ratio as the absorption method. However, as there are great variances between microwaves, refer to your microwave manual for instructions.

Tip: For optimal consistency in results, we recommend the use of an electric rice cooker.
